August rushed by without a post. We went on a long family vacation and in the blink of a eye the month was gone. I really need to do a post of Steven's Traveling Clockwork, which I took with me, but that will be in the next post.
In the meantime, earlier this summer I finished a second version of my Mad River hat. This version has facing instead of the corrugated rib, and a different crown. Haven't been able to do an official shoot of yet, but here is a temporary shots with Mad River version 1.
On the airplane I knit a narwhal for my girl. She always wanted me to knit her a softie and I finally promised one for her as a birthday gift, this is what she chose. Girl named him Ron Swanson. The pattern is by Rebecca Danger and my notes are on my Ravelry page, including some mods to the tusk/tooth and general sizing.
There's another pair of my Vagabond Fingerless Mitts in progress (shhh, they're for a friend and they don't know). On my third mitt due to botching the sizing of the second one. Perhaps I should read my own directions more carefully.
Still working on my Alabama Chanin DIY Anna's Garden Swing Skirt kit. I'm almost done with the second of four panels of the skirt. Yes, the stitching takes awhile but the cutting takes just as long because I have to go slowly so that I don't cut through the bottom layer. The color is actually a very dark brown, almost black, called Earth. It's amazing what Instagram can do with colors. I think the skirt will be worth it when I'm done in the end.
Hope you've all had a great summer. Now that the kids are back in school, I hope to get back to regular posting.
